Marcus S. Grant is an internationally-renowned composer/arranger, music educator, producer, and content creator living in central Virginia. He currently serves as an Executive Board Member of the National Trumpet Competition, Co-Founder and Director of the Trumpeter’s Multitrack Competition and Seminar, Vice President of Diversify The Stand, and a professor of Music Theory and Aural Skills at Virginia Commonwealth University.
His lifelong music career began as a young member of the Richmond Boys Choir, leading him to perform concerts for the General Assembly of Virginia, former President George H. Bush Sr., Coretta Scott King, James Brown, Desiree Roots, and others. As an experienced trumpet player, he has performed at the American Bandmasters Association Conference, the National Trumpet Competition, the International Trumpet Guild Conference, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship, Carnegie Hall, and others. As an engaging social media content creator and video producer, his music-related videos across all social media platforms boast a total of over 6 million views, catching the attention of YouTube’s official media and marketing team as well as international musical icons such as popular Canadian Singer Michael Bublé and World-Class Violinist Lindsey Stirling.
Yamaha-Sponsored Performing Artist and college trumpet professor Rex Richardson describes Marcus as “an extraordinary musician and pedagogue; an extremely-accomplished composer/arranger, a wonderful trumpeter […], and one of the best teachers [he has] ever observed.”Marcus received his Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumental Music Education from Virginia Commonwealth University and his Master’s Degree in Trumpet Performance from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, with an outside area in Arts Administration. He currently runs his business as a composer/content creator with the help of Victoria Baird as his Project Manager and Ashley Killam as his Artist Manager.
